The Good News through pancakes

In every autumn, when thousands of students begin their academic studies, you can meet on the streets of Tartu many friendly young people in red or teddy-bear-face t-shirts. Who are they and why do they share free morning coffee or help so many university ”freshers” find answers to their confusion? They are young Christians from Agape and Risttee organizations, who want serve the people of Tartu, and share something good. They have started a café with free pancakes, trolley (shopping cart) races, games evenings, night services, foreign students evenings and other interesting activities. During all these events, the participants can find new friends and acquaintances, which is vital, as it is always easier to go thorough life, sharing it with others.

These are some of the forms of youth work going on in Tartu, but there are many different ways to share the message of God's love. You can do exactly the same in your own hometown or countryside. People everywhere in the world need to hear the Good News, and especially those outside the church walls!
Youth work should be a crucial part of our Church activity. Children and youth are just as important in our congregations as adults, as they are equal in God’s eyes.
Jesus said: ”Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” (Mark. 10:14).

Bringing youth up in a Christian environment from a young age means they are much more likely to stay with Jesus in adulthood. Youth are also some of the best missionaries, as they spread the Gospel without noticing it, as they play with each other. In order for our Church to grow, we must pass on the knowledge and understanding, we have received, to the younger generation.

”Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” (1. Tim. 4:12)
